Every treatment at Eden Osteopathy begins with listening. We take the time to understand your history, your patterns, and what your body is telling us.

All sessions are 30 minutes. All treatment is hands-on, drug-free, and non-invasive.

Your first visit includes a detailed intake and assessment, followed by your first treatment. We’ll talk through your health history, current concerns, and goals — then get to work.

How we treat.

Depending on what your body needs, treatment at Eden Osteopathy may include a combination of:

• Soft tissue manipulation

• Gentle joint movement

• Myofascial release

• Visceral manipulation

• Lymphatic drainage techniques

All techniques are guided by osteopathic principles — addressing the whole body, not just the area of complaint.

What to expect.

A treatment plan isn’t a guess — it’s a process. Osteopathic Manual Therapy works cumulatively. Each session builds on the last. Understanding what that progression looks like can help you come in with the right expectations — and make the most of your care.

Session 1 — Initial Assessment & Treatment

Your first appointment is different from everything that follows. We spend time going through your health history — current concerns, past injuries, surgeries, patterns you’ve noticed over time. Then we do a postural and movement assessment. All of this informs where we begin treatment. Here’s something that often surprises people: we don’t necessarily start where your pain is. One of the first things we assess is the pelvis — the structural foundation of the body — because what happens there shapes everything above and below it. From that foundation, we address what we find rather than chasing the symptom. This is deliberate. It’s how the approach works. By the end of your first session, we’ve already begun treatment. You may notice subtle changes in the days that follow — this is normal, and expected.

Sessions 2 & 3 — Building on the foundation

The body responds to osteopathic treatment in the 24–72 hours after a session, not just on the table. Real change happens between appointments. Sessions 2 and 3 build on what was established in your first visit. We reassess, observe how your body has responded, and continue working through the layers of restriction and compensation that have built up over time. Many patients notice meaningful improvement within this window — reduced discomfort, easier movement, better sleep, or a general sense of things settling. Progress isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s quiet, and that’s fine.

Sessions 4 & 5 — Refining and stabilising

By this point, we have a clear picture of how your body responds to treatment and where lasting change is taking hold. Sessions 4 and 5 tend to feel more focused. We’re refining, stabilising, and addressing anything that has resisted earlier work. For many patients, this is where the most significant shifts happen — because the body has had time to integrate the earlier sessions. We also use this stage to reassess your goals. Are you pain-free? Maintaining? Still working through something complex? The plan adjusts accordingly.

Beyond Session 5 — Maintenance & ongoing care

Some patients reach their goals and transition to periodic maintenance — coming in every few weeks or months to keep things moving well. Others are managing a chronic condition and find regular treatment keeps them functional and comfortable. Both are valid. There’s no obligation to continue beyond what serves you. We’ll always be honest with you about where you are in your care and what, if anything, makes sense going forward.

We follow the body, not the clock.

You may find our sessions shorter than you're used to. That's not us cutting corners — it's us paying attention. You're not paying for time on the table; you're paying for the work your body is ready to receive that day. Sometimes that's fifteen or twenty minutes. When the work is done, we stop.

Insurance & Direct Billing

Osteopathic Manual Therapy is covered by most extended health benefit plans under “Osteopath” or “Manual Osteopathy.” Coverage amounts vary by plan — your plan booklet or a quick call to your insurer will confirm yours, and we’re happy to help you check.

Where your insurer supports direct billing for manual osteopathy, we bill them directly. For all other plans, you pay at your visit and submit the receipt — most insurers reimburse online, often within a few days. Our receipts include everything your insurer needs for a smooth claim.

Not sure if you’re covered? Give us a call or send a message before your first visit — we’re happy to help you check.
